UPDATING: 'Deadpool' Sequel Teaser Trailer Attached To 'Logan' From U.S. Release

6

UPDATE: Now that the U.S. screenings of Logan have begun, and the cat’s out of the bag, so to say – we can safely reveal that the teaser is for Deadpool 2. Story developing.

There’s been too much speculation over a special secret something hidden from the press screenings of Logan, as well as from the international public screenings ahead of the U.S. release of the film tonight. There’s been talk of a post-credits scene, something with director James Mangold denied on multiple occasions, and then reports have come out that there’ll be a special surprise before the film. Whatever it is, it was neither on the press shows, nor on the public screenings of the film internationally over the past few days. Deluxe Digital Cinema have also noted that there are essentially two different versions of Logan – one pre-release (i.e. prior to the evening of March 2), and another post-release with the extra as part of it.

Now, that speculation can almost be put to rest, as /Film have exclusively learned from their sources (and this has now been further corroborated) that the extra in question is a secret teaser/announcement trailer for a FOX film, which may or may not end up online – for now anyway, this sounds like an exclusive attachment to the Logan prints. The teaser in question is for David Leitch’s Deadpool sequel. This finally clears up all the reports and protests from Mangold and co regarding an appearance from Ryan Reynolds’ Merc with a Mouth in a possible post-credits scene, while after all Fox seem to have flipped the expectations by attaching a secret trailer to a version of the film only to be played from tonight onwards. Word is also that this teaser may also screen in international territories, such as the UK, from tomorrow (Friday) as well.

/Film provides a detailed description of the teaser based on their sources, which is a scene specially shot by director David Leitch, and you can head over there to check it out. It’s currently unknown whether the teaser will be released online at some point in time, although previous experience with such secret teasers (most recent examples include The Avengers and Fifty Shades Freed teasers used as end credit stings on Captain America: The First Avenger and Fifty Shades Darker respectively) suggest that it might not. But stay tuned here for updates following the apparent debut tonight – and those in the U.S. seeing Logan in a few hours, let us know if you get it!

In the near future, a weary Logan cares for an ailing Professor X in a hide out on the Mexican border. But Logan’s attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are up-ended when a young mutant arrives, being pursued by dark forces.

Starring Hugh Jackman in his final appearance as Wolverine, and joined by Patrick Stewart, Richard E. Grant, Boyd Holbrook, Stephen Merchant and Dafne Keen, Logan is out in the UK now, and in the U.S. from tonight. The untitled Deadpool sequel is set to go into production later this year.
