We’ve been hearing rumbles as to the arrival of the next trailer for James Mangold’s Logan, with reports on the first 40 minutes of the film screening to press recently under embargo for another couple of weeks (and previous such embargo lifts for War for The Planet of the Apes, A Cure for Wellness and Alien: Covenant all being accompanied by trailers), and today 20th Century Fox have announced the arrival of what they call the film’s final trailer, but with a twist.
The website 1974framesoflogan.com launched earlier today, offering fans the chance to receive a limited edition postcard featuring a single frame from the final trailer. The postcards have now run out – and it’s unclear whether Fox will post them out to the lucky fans before or after the trailer’s online drop. But what we do know from this is the possible runtime of the trailer – 1,974 frames at 24 frames per seconds run for 1 minute and 22 seconds. UPDATE (Jan 12): Director James Mangold and star Hugh Jackman posted images of their first and last postcards respectively, suggesting the “frames” are just the actual footage from the film excluding title cards and presumably fade ins/outs.Still, it’s looking to be under two minutes long, which some have said is strange for a final trailer (which isn’t really the case).

A similar stunt was used for the launch of the main trailer for Christoper Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises in 2012, with the trailer being unlocked on a viral site frame-by-frame by fans finding and tweeting images of special bat-shaped tags in select locations across the world.
As reported previously to us by Swiss journalist Jérôme Brunner and thereafter corroborated by other outlets such as ScreenRant, the embargo on the Logan footage reports from the recent Fox Showcase press events lifts week commencing January 16th – just over two weeks from now. While this isn’t fully confirmed, much like with the aforementioned Fox trailer/event report releases, we expect the embargo lift date and time to be the trailer’s online launch time. As soon as we hear more concrete details, we will be sure to update you.
Starring Hugh Jackman in his final appearance as Wolverine, and joined by Patrick Stewart, Richard E. Grant, Boyd Holbrook, Stephen Merchant and Dafne Keen, Logan arrives in UK cinemas March 1, and in the U.S. on March 3. See the debut teaser below:
